Hoke
Roberts
Hoke Roberts paints
in acrylic, on canvas, wood, metal, whatever material he can find.
He is known for his paintings on old license plates. "People
wonder if I used to be a convict, I am so natural paintin' those
plates
" His images are bold and primal and reflect
a unique personal vision. Hoke is a one-session painter who describes
the inspiration for his work as something that flows through him
at the moment that he has no accounting for. Hoke was born in
1947 in Dayton, Ohio and he now resides along the Mississippi
in Mark Twain's hometown of Hannibal, MO. He exhibits his work
through galleries and at artfairs including Who-Fest in Atlanta.
