He began to paint just a few years ago, although he is no stranger to working with his hands..Jim used to help his grandfather make walking sticks and also made furniture. His paintings are vivid acrylic colors with imagery and writing that reveal both the man's humor and his religious perspective. He has been a farmer, a restaurant owner, and a construction worker.
