Ronald
Cooper
Ronald Cooper
was born in 1931 and married at the age of 17. Together with his
wife, he ran a country store in Kentucky until the couple moved
to Ohio, where he did factory work. Poor health and a debilitating
car accident forced him out of his job. Artwork became his therapy
and his salvation. Ronald sculpts figures out of lumber and found
wood and paints them in bold colors. His subject matter is often
from the scriptures, sometimes humorous, sometimes more serious.
Morehead University has a permanent collection of Ronald's work
and he is included in the American Visionary Art Museum collection.
Mennello Museum of American Folk Art in Orlando has also exhibited
his work.
