Jerry Coker was
born in Arkansas, but now resides in Florida. He is entirely self-taught
and has been painting since the 1970's. He is famous for his masks,
but told us that he feels his paintings represent the best of
his work. Contemporary American Folk Art Collector's Guide quotes
Jerry as saying that he is "
a folk-stream Expressionist,
a self-taught Cokerian." The rust patina on the tin tiles
that he paints on add delightfully to the paintings. They almost
have a tapestry-like look.
